The NPCs in this Village Sim Game Must Be Real! Manga Review

TL;DR – Is The NPCs in this Village Sim Game Must Be Real! worth reading as a busy adult?

Probably Not.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The NPCs in this Village Sim Game Must Be Real! is an interesting story but the characters are forgettable. The premise is unique enough to stand on it’s own despite it’s somewhat slow pacing and lack of tension.

Breakdown

Premise
Above Average

Yoshio is 30 year old NEET. He receives a copy of “The Village of Fate,” an experimental game. In the game, he acts as a “god” who watches over the people.…but he finds that the game characters are so intelligent, reactive, and human that he starts wondering if they could be real people somehow.

Art
Average

While there is some combat, it’s not too fluid and the scenery isn’t too engaging. The art doesn’t distract from the story but it doesn’t add to it as well.

Characters
Average

Yoshio himself receives a fair share of character development but most of the NPCs are just that, NPCs. It’s difficult to remember the names of all the villagers even though there’s so few.

Binge-Ability
Average

The story is just interesting enough to keep you moderately hooked on what may happen in the next chapter. I won’t be shedding any tears for this one but I do root for the villager’s well-being.

You should read something else if you’re a busy person. If you have extra time and have an itch for a psuedo-isekai give it a read – it’s still enjoyable.

Grading Scale

I use a five point scale (Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Excellent)

Average is not bad, it’s average. You’ll likely enjoy it, but you may find greater enjoyment in another book.
