Gokurakugai Manga Review

Is Gokurakugai worth reading as a busy adult?

Probably Not.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Gokurakugai has amazing character designs but a lackluster story. It may ramp up down to road but it’s probably not worth your time for a binge.

Breakdown

Premise
Below Average

Tao and Alma, a pair of troubleshooters who work in a bustling red-light district, take on any job that requires a solution.

Art
Above Average

The artwork is great, if nothing else – check out the first chapter because the art style is fantastic. It reminds me of Gangsta – a manga that is worth checking out if you want to read a more adult-oriented series.

Characters
Average

Gokurakugai doesn’t provide an immediate attachment to any of the characters beyond how they look. There is some intrigue into who the characters are and their backstory, but nothing is really teased out in the first few chapters to make it worth the continued read.

Binge-Ability
Below Average

The story is just not interesting enough to keep reading.

You should read something else if you’re a busy person. If you have extra time and you like the art style give it a read – the characters look great.

Grading Scale

I use a five point scale (Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Excellent)

Average is not bad, it’s average. You’ll likely enjoy it, but you may find greater enjoyment in another book.
